Our Story

The story of Becoming Senegal began with a simple yet powerful idea: to harness the untapped potential within Senegal through the power of education. Senegal is a country rich in culture, history, and opportunity, but education across various domains has often been underdeveloped.

In 2022, recognizing the urgent need to address these gaps, we started with initiatives focused on teacher training and student engagement. Our efforts quickly expanded to include environmental programs, gender equality, and the development of digital educational platforms.

Today, we are still expanding because of our unwavering conviction that educating people will enable Senegal's communities and individuals to reach their full potential.

Meet the Team

  • Aicha Diagne

    Founder

    With over 12 years of experience in entrepreneurship and education, Aicha has a unique background that makes her an ideal leader for a vision-driven nonprofit organization.

    Since 2012, she has been running her own travel agency and recently co-founded the school that inspired her to create Becoming Senegal.

  • Mamadou Mbengue

    Communications Director

    Mamadou has alwayas been passionate about political science and education. With his previous experience in communications, he decided to combine his love for political science and education to help expand the mission of Becoming Senegal.

    He is also currently furthering his studies in Political Science by pursuing a Masters Degree.

  • Moumi Fall

    Copywriter & Digital Marketing Strategist

    Moumi has been in love with digital marketing since she first started learning about it while trying to promote her own small business.

    She strives to uncover new ways to help career and education niched brands grow online through heart-driven copywriting and creative messaging.
